Hi, I'm
Shaurya Jain.

Engineering student building software for learning, data, and the web.

I make focused tools for studying, tracking, and deciding what to do next.

A few things I've built, from study tools to data experiments.

Selected projects

[01]

Study tool · Search

Doubtabase

A SwiftUI app that turns screenshots of missed questions into a local, searchable study log. On-device OCR and embeddings group related mistakes and surface the source context.

SwiftUI · Apple Vision OCR · embeddings · cosine similarity

[02]

Football · Data · Baseline

Premier League Match Predictor

Achieves approximately 55% validation accuracy, outperforming the 33% random baseline for three possible outcomes. It currently excludes injuries, suspensions, confirmed lineups, transfers, managerial changes, xG, and bookmaker odds, struggles to identify draws, and performs worse on newer seasons as football patterns change over time. Next steps are to integrate these pre-match variables, use official fixtures, improve draw calibration, and evaluate through rolling out-of-sample testing to improve reliability and reduce overfitting.

Python · pandas · scikit-learn · temporal validation

Academics · Planning

Personal Academic OS

A Next.js/TypeScript system that keeps deadlines, grades, calendars, and notes in one SQLite-backed view. Using Codex OAuth, its AI agent turns a simple input into a daily schedule and organised task list, then surfaces the next task to work on.

Next.js · TypeScript · SQLite · Codex OAuth

[04]

IBDP · School server · AI tooling

IBDP Discord Bot

An AI-assisted Discord bot for IBDP school servers. It helps students manage time, organise assignments, set reminders, and track IA progress without leaving Discord.

Discord API · AI workflows · scheduling · assignment tracking · IA progress

Study tool · Mobile

Past Paper Tracker

A SwiftUI app for keeping marks, mistakes, and question photos together. Local persistence keeps it useful offline; Supabase sync is optional.

SwiftUI · Swift 6 · Supabase · XcodeGen

[06]

Study tool · Browser

Question Timer

A Chrome extension that records time per practice question, stores sessions locally, and exports a PDF summary.

JavaScript · Chrome Extension API · chrome.storage.local · PDF

[07]

Hardware · NFC · Python

Raspberry Pi NFC Alarm

A Raspberry Pi 5 alarm that only dismisses with an authorized NFC tag. A Python service coordinates the RC522 reader, GPIO, persistent state, and systemd recovery.

Python · Raspberry Pi 5 · RC522/SPI · GPIO · systemd

Make the next decision clearer.

I'm an engineering student at The University of Hong Kong. I like turning messy workflows into small, dependable systems. I've built tools for reviewing mistakes, testing football predictions, and keeping academic work on track. I care about constraints, clear interfaces, and software people actually use.

Experience

2020 — 2026

Independent builder

Freelance

  • Built and shipped websites, small tools, automations, and machine-learning experiments for problems too specific for off-the-shelf software.
  • Took projects from idea to usable product, choosing the right technical approach for each workflow and leaving behind practical systems that solved the original need.
  • Worked across web, mobile, data, browser extensions, and hardware, adapting quickly between stacks while keeping each project focused and maintainable.

2024 — 2026

Lead software engineer

  • Built Rootatom from scratch as a full-stack education platform for IGCSE students, owning the product architecture and implementation across practice, authentication, feedback, progress tracking, and content.
  • Designed the production stack with Django, PostgreSQL/Supabase, React/TypeScript, Docker, and cloud deployment, giving the platform a reliable foundation as usage grew.
  • Scaled and maintained the live service for 300 daily unique visitors and 120,000 monthly requests, managing deployments, database and content operations, performance, and reliability end to end.
  • Grew the platform to 300+ users and 40,000+ practice questions, turning a blank starting point into a dependable exam-preparation resource.

2025

Machine learning intern

PharmInt

  • Built classification models to distinguish hypoxic and normoxic cancer cells using public biomedical datasets, applying machine learning to a biomedical research problem.
  • Owned the pipeline from data preprocessing and feature selection through model training and evaluation with Python, pandas, and scikit-learn.
  • Interpreted model outputs for biological relevance and documented limitations, keeping the resulting conclusions appropriately cautious and defensible.

2024 — 2025

Academic content manager

ZNotes

  • Managed and coordinated 20+ student contributors, overseeing content submissions, revisions, and publication workflows.
  • Conducted daily reviews of subject notes, maintaining consistency, accuracy, and quality across academic resources.
  • Coordinated the creation and organisation of subject-specific study materials for students across multiple academic areas.
  • Reviewed and edited contributor submissions to improve clarity, structure, accuracy, and exam relevance.
  • Streamlined the content workflow by tracking submissions, identifying gaps, and coordinating revisions with contributors.
  • Maintained a growing repository of student-focused revision resources, keeping materials organised and accessible.
